Additional rules are on the pfSense machine to block LAN to WAN traffic, but allow it over the VPN. If the VPN is down, the machines have no Internet accesss (my desire). In my case I use a pfSense VM that runs an OpenVPN client to PIA, and whatever systems I actually want to use permanently over the VPN, I just set the pfSense machine as the gateway. It's pretty intensive at any respectable throughput unless you have the right hardware crypto engine built into your hardware, and are set up to use it in your tunnel. Reasons for this are that you can simplify or remove the need for the policy-based routing you're kind of looking at doing, and also due to the power/CPU requirements for OpenVPN client traffic. PIA allows a certain amount of simultaneous client connections per customer. You may want to set up either a dedicated VM/machine or VPN client use, or run PIA on each respective system you want on the VPN. People improve their skills and understanding through constructive feedback. Remember that the people posting here are real human beings possibly trying to learn and dive into the world of networking.
